Each modality - massage, yoga, and aromatherapy - helps calm the nervous system and cultivate embodiment. Having personally benefited from all three, I am passionate about offering them to you. The inspiration for Root & Rest came from seeing yoga students struggle to lift their arms above their heads; in those moments, my curiosity and eagerness to help truly kicked in.
You can book any of these services a la carte to focus on a specific need, or combine them for a fully integrated experience. Consider Root & Rest your wellness "one-stop-shop." Together, we can assess your movement on the mat, work into those muscles and release built-up tension on the massage table, and then create custom aromatherapy blends to support your everyday life between sessions.

Diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 3rd grade, I've always had a hard time feeling at home in my body. The headaches, exhaustion, and other symptoms that come with hypothyroidism made it challenging to WANT to move & feel comfortable in my body.
I tried almost every sport, but it wasn't until high school that I finally found tennis. I loved being on a team yet having my individual game (we won a state championship!). My tennis game came to an end due to shoulder/elbow pain and I wasn't sure what would be next.
So, I focused on college and learned how to truly serve others through hospitality. I'm a firm believer that everyone deserves respect, care, and the best service possible.
In 2022, while healing from trauma, I began working from home and knew I needed something to get me out of the house. That's when I fell in love with the practice of yoga. I was and still am fascinated with the combination of physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the practice.
In 2024, I felt in my heart and soul that I needed to deepen my practice and share it with community through teaching. After graduating from Hothouse Yoga's 200-RYT program, I began teaching at Public Space One and haven't looked back! I currently teach at PS1 and Hothouse, click on the "Yoga" tab to view my schedule.
Towards the end of 2025, I knew it was time for a change. My work from home job was no longer fulfilling. I started making a list of what I've always loved to do, and massage kept coming up (I've been intuitively massaging since age 3!). So, I took a leap and enrolled into Carlson College of Massage Therapy. From day one, we dove into hands-on work, and I fell in love with it immediately. What I treasure most is tailoring every single session to what each client uniquely needs in that moment. Massage therapy is a beautiful, shared experience - while it helps you release tension and unwind on the table, it also helps me stay deeply grounded in my own body and breath.
I officially graduated in August 2026, and I am so grateful to have returned to Carlson as a part-time instructor!
Hope to see you on your mat or on the table.
With Care,
Maddie

I'm an avid lover of ice cream, animals, nature, and organizing in community. In my spare time you can find me practicing on the mat, fundraising for ICAP, reading, and spending quality time with my partner D.J., friends, and family.
I'm a fun, extroverted, nurturing, grounded, good-listening individual.
I want to meet you where you are at; physically, mentally, and spiritually. Allow me to tend to your roots, let's do the work in the darkness together so you can reach your full potential in the light.
